Abstract. Oriental turtle dove (Streptopelia
orientalis) breeds in Asia from Ural to Japan,
until recently it is regarded as a rare vagrant to
the Western Palearctic. The species was recorded for
the first time in Slovakia – one specimen was
observed in the town of Sabinov, eastern Slovakia,
on February 9, 2014.
